Just because we feel something does not mean it is true - when your feelings overwhelm you, take a sheet of paper, divide it in two and in the top half write down all your emotions in the second half write just the facts - not what you think is happening just the facts.
This exercise will help you to focus on facts not feelings.
When we no longer see ourselves a victim we can set boundaries and communicate our needs in an assertive manner. When people act unpleasantly towards us, it is not us they dislike but themselves, their own insecurity prompts them to act in an inappropriate manner.
